Munster Maths & Science Family Fair 2017
Mallow Development Partnership are hosting the seventh annual Munster Maths and Science Family Fair on Sunday, 15th October, 2017 from 11.30am to 4.30pm in the Mallow GAA Complex in Carrigoon.
Attracting over 4000 visitors in 2016, the fair was established as an extension of the Mallow Maths & Science Schools Initiative to connect local schools with the community through Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths (STEM). For the past six years the event has provided a wonderful forum for students to showcase their maths and science projects which they have been working on over the past number of months. Thirteen local primary schools together with secondary schools from the Mallow, Buttevant and Doneraile areas will be showcasing their maths and science projects. The students will be available at the exhibits to explain the maths & science aspect behind each project.
Complimenting the schools displays, attendees can also enjoy educational showcases and demonstrations on the day from a large range of other exhibitors including third level, STEM clubs, research institutes and industry etc. The event promises to be a fun filled, engaging and educational event for all the ages, whilst also providing a valuable opportunity to discuss with the professionals their careers working as an engineer, scientist, researcher and what subjects are needed to study for these careers.
