Munster Maths & Science Family Fair 2020
It is with profound regret that the committee for the annual Munster Maths and Science Family Fair are announcing that we are unable to proceed with this year’s fair which was to be held at Mallow GAA Complex on Sunday October 11th.
Having held out for as long as possible throughout the COVID19 turmoil, ongoing restrictions and continuing uncertainty towards large indoor gatherings leads us to believe that we will not be in a position to deliver a safe event in a manner that would deliver a rewarding experience for the children, exhibitors and all attendees.
Growing year on year, last year’s STEM fair saw a record 60 exhibitors entertain a 5,000 plus crowd throughout the day and 2020 was lining up to be even more special with us also celebrating the fairs 10th anniversary. We had secured all the old favourites to exhibit, along with some exciting new additions and a notable increase in new schools from a wider geographical area. All are understandably disappointed but are very understanding given the unusual circumstances and are now pledging their support to a bumper 2021 anniversary fair instead.
While this year’s event is not going ahead, we would still like to take this opportunity to thank everyone involved with the Munster Maths and Science Family Fair and in particular Cork County Council who had again committed as the fairs main annual sponsor, as well as the Irish American Partnership whose benevolent support also greatly assists each year.
We now look forward in anticipation to 2021 and have provisionally scheduled next year’s fair for Sunday, October 10th, 2021. We will provide further details in due course but for now wish everyone good health and to stay safe through these troubling times.
